Tot School on Vacation

Lil’man is 31 months.

Well, our summer is coming to an end! Next week we will officially be back to our Tot School routines.  Since, Daddy was at a business conference this week, we decided to go visit family.  Boy, did Lil’man have fun playing with all his cousins and other extended relatives.  Here are a few things he enjoyed:

Motorized Vehicles: Lil’man loved riding and driving the various motor vehicles at his disposal while visiting my Aunt’s house.

Children’s Museum: We love this children’s museum!  There is so much to do and see at a reasonable price.   They have a diner, garage, grocery store,  castle, post office, fire truck, airplane, house, water table…and so much more!

He loved grocery shopping and I loved that everything was color coded for easy clean up!  He also enjoyed playing in the castle.  Below he’s pulling up the draw bridge.

In the farm area he collected chicken eggs.  And then he splashed and fished for letters in the water table.

Hangin’ Out with the Cousins: He had the most fun just playing with all his other cousins and 2nd cousins!  He played in a kiddie pool, with all his cousins cool toys, and just had fun chasing them around.

So, that was Tot School, while on vacation.  We will be doing an All About Me unit for our first week of back to Tot School.  I hope you stop by to check it out!

Tot School- Summer Randomness

Lil’man is 30-31 months

Well this summer, we have been taking it easy or I guess I should say that I have been taking it easy.  I figured this would be the season to take a break from our Tot School post and to not worry about taking pictures or getting a post up, but to just relax.   And we have!  He are just a few things we have been doing.

PLAY DATES: We have had a weekly play date.  The shots below are the only time I brought a camera and actually took pictures.  Lil’man loved the sidewalk chalk, so I recently purchased him some.  If the weather would get just a little cooler, we may actually go outside and enjoy them.

The water tableAffliation Link is always a big hit in the heat.   Lil’man got his for Christmas and it made a great snow table as well!

RELAXED: We have enjoyed just being at home and pulling out some of our favorite toys.  It is so much fun to actually see the boy play with these animals now…especially when he adds dialogue.

We’ve also found new ways to use old things to have fun.  We used our homemade train table to create a car ramp!  Lil’man loved watching the cars zoom down it!

LINING & MATCHING UP: Lately, Lil’man has enjoyed lining things up.  He has been lining up anything and everything.  He even used the Sobe Water I stocked up on for a total of 71 cents!

On top of lining things up he likes to match things up.  Here he has matched his zoo animals with 2 of its matching letters.

So, that is just a taste of what has been going on in our household this summer.  I am hard at work planning out Tot School for next year.  We hope to be back full time come August.

I hope your summer is going well and you are staying cool.  Don’t forget to see what others are doing at 1+1+1=1!

Summer Tot- Week of May 31st

Lil’ Man is 30 months old. tot_school150
This week we enjoyed a random selection of activities……

IMG_4968 IMG_4970

The boy got soaked playing with his water table.  He also enjoyed building.  Each tower in the picture above was actually a person.  After he finished building everyone, he did some role playing with them.  It was so cute.

IMG_4942 IMG_4956

Lil’man also enjoyed playing Memory.  He has been wanting to play this game several times.  I loved how he played in one of his dress up hats.  Isn’t he a·dor·a·ble.

 IMG_4977 IMG_4983

He has been pulling out his farm house a lot too.  I love how he role plays with his toys now.  During this picture the farmer was telling the animals that it was time to get up.  He hasn’t played with his shape sorter in months, so I was surprised to see this pulled out.

This is my favorite picture from the week.  Evidently sometime after the boy was put down for his nap, he put on his pajama top.  I’m not sure if it started at his waist, but that is where it was when he got up.  The neck was so stretched out, but I love that he is trying to be a big boy!
Well, that was our week. If you would like to see what other tots have been up to this week, make sure and visit 1+1+1=1.

Tot School- Dinosaur Field Trip

Lil’Man is 29 months
tot_school150
For Tot School, we enjoyed visiting some life size animatronic dinosaurs.   To make the photos a little more fun I created a little slide show.  I had a lot of fun doing it, so let me know what you think of our Dino Field Trip.

Although, we didn’t capture any pictures of the boy’s wonderment, he really did enjoy looking at these extinct animals.  Of course, he preferred to view them from the comfort and security of his daddy’s arms.  As long as Daddy was holding him, he was fine. Well, except when one of the dinos decided to surprise them by spraying water at them.   All in all, it was a fun trip.

If you would like to see what other tots are doing then head over to 1+1+1=1.
I am also linking this up to ABC and 123: Show and Tell, so don't miss out on it either.

Tot School- May 17th

Lil’man is 29 months tot_school150

As summer approaches, our life seems to be taking place more and more outside of the home.  Of course this would be fine for Tot School, but it doesn’t really help when I don’t have my camera.  Therefore, be aware that Tot School posts may be lacking as we enjoy summertime.

The one day of Tot School that took place at home started with sorting and making patterns.  I recently made my way to IKEA and picked up some fun ice cube trays.  (I think Carisa may have the one below.) Lil’man then used some colorful popsicle sticks to place into the tray.  I would start patterns for him and then he would finished them.  He then got some free time to just play with it.

While at IKEA, the husband had to pick up a train set for the boy. We got a board at Home Depot and cut it down to fit on top of the coffee table.  We then added some rubber pads to the bottom to prevent sliding and protect the table from scratches. Presto chango…coffee table to train table.

The boy also enjoyed doing some oldies by goodies.

Not Pictured: Two play dates this week.  Well, one play date was more of a mommy meeting, but he meet a new friend, Elisabeth, and they did a great job playing together quietly.

So we had a busy week, but not much to show for it.  How was your week?  Curious about what others did? Then check out 1+1+1=1.

We had a crazy week this week, running around all over the place.  We did manage to do a few of our Tot School activities.

Lil’man enjoyed playing  a few games of memory.  (Don’t mind his pjs in a few of these pics…sometimes I am just not in hurry to get him dressed for the day.)
 IMG_4854 IMG_4856
Then he worked on some fine motor skills by placing pipe cleaners through the holes of an old (large) spice container.  After he finished he put foam beads on the matching color pipe cleaner.  We didn’t have any white beads, so I had him just put purple on the white one.  Putting the beads on wasn’t his favorite part of the activity.  Before too long, the activity turned into dancing with pipe cleaners.  Wish I would have caught that on camera! (I have seen variations of this activity on several blogs.)
IMG_4837 IMG_4842
On our second day of Tot School we played Hi Ho Cherry Os by our own rules. This is a great game for fine motor skills because the cherries are small and close together on the trees.   Plus who wouldn’t want to spin the spinner!
IMG_4851IMG_4852
We also did some puzzles.  Well, actually he did all his puzzles.  He pulled out every single one.  If you look closely at the background in the pictures below you will see the pieces all over the floor.

And I will leave you with few of my favorite shots from this week.
