Tot School- Wk of Nov 2nd

Lil'man is 22 months
Tot School
This week I finally created a spooning activity using some items that we already had at the house. (Tbsp, baby wipe container, foam beads) Lil'man hasn't been feeding himself as well as he has in the past.  I am not sure why this is the case, but I thought he would benefit from some spooning activities.  He still is using both hands, even though at times I think he may have a dominant left hand.

Even though I didn't get it posted this week, we also did our stART activity.  Since we didn't do too many pumpkin activities last month, we created a 3D pumpkin using cotton balls.  We didn't have any orange paint, so we did a quick color mixing lesson.  Lil'man was very excited to create ORANGE!  It is his favorite color these days.

On Thursday we had a play date.  We went to an indoor playroom.  We have been there one other time, but this was the first time Lil'man actually went into the large Noah's Ark juggle gym.  He loved it.  His favorite part was climbing through the tunnel.  Every time a child went through it would trigger a speaker to make animal noises.

Lil'man also created his own Tot School activities.  The whole week he loved playing with the Tootsie Roll Pops.  He would use them as drum sticks.  He would stuff them up his sleeves or pants and then watch them fall out.  He also discovered the holes in my house shoes and decided it would be a good place to stick them. Then I showed him how they would fit in his Lego's.  He really had fun playing with this particular Halloween item.

My favorite pictures from this week are of Lil'man eating his first sucker.  We didn't let him finish it because he kept trying to bite it and I was afraid he was going to damage his baby teeth.  Look at how well he takes advantage of the gap between his two front teeth.

All in all it was a fun week in Tot School.  Come back next week to see what we've been up to. If you would like to see what other tots have been up to this week visit 1+1+1=1.

Tot School- Wk of Oct 25th

Lil'man is 22 months
Tot School
This was again a light week. Lil'man was still fighting off his cold and then he was so kind to share it with his mommy. It hit my husband today. Good thing football is on! So, I am going to apologize ahead of time. Sorry if you are looking for ideas, this week it was about just getting healthy.

Here are two things that Lil'man enjoyed doing this week:

He really enjoyed dressing up. (These particular pieces our from a recent Murder Mystery party that we attended. My husband was a chauffeur.)

He also enjoyed tapping out a rhythm using his kitchen toys. He is such a little drummer.

Tot School- Wk of Oct 19th

Tot School
Unfortunately, Lil'man got sick at the end of this week, so we didn't accomplish much.  We read lots of books (you can see all the books were are reading in the right sidebar) and cuddled up to watch more TV than normal.  However, one thing that we did that he loved was beading.  I had purchased him a big assortment of foam shape beads at Walmart.  When I first pulled them out he tried using a pipe cleaner, but the holes were a little small and the pipe cleaner would start to bend as he tried to push it on.  So, to solve this problem I gave him a wooden meat skewer.  (Of course that was after I filed down the point with a nail file.)  I wrapped a small piece of a pipe cleaner on the end to prevent any of the beads from sliding off.

He preferred to use the poking approach to get them on the skewer and then he would slide them up. This worked perfectly and had him beading for what seem like hours for several days this week.

Besides beading Lil'man also enjoyed walking around in my shoes and shaking his newly made bone rattle as I read Shake dem Halloween Bones.  Here are a few more pictures from the beginning of this week.

Tot School- Week of Oct 12th

Lil'man is 22 months
Tot School
This week week during Tot School we did a variety of things.  Lil'man was so blessed to recently receive Melissa & Doug Deluxe 10-Piece Magnetic Fishing Game from his Grandpa.

He loves it.  He struggles with getting the animals back into their spots, but loves using the fishing pole to pull them out.  It definitely adds a twist to playing with puzzles.  As we played with it, we reviewed the names of the animals that we learned about this summer and even learned some new ones.  We also pulled out our magna-doodle.  He enjoyed scribbling all over it.  The best part was when he would show me the pictures he made, he would name it,  "Look, mama.  Cow...mooo!"  It was too cute.  The race car that his daddy made for him came out several times this week, also.  As well as a recorder that was mine when I taught.  I played him a few songs on it, while he would try to play along moving his fingers like me.  Then he would say, "(Lil'man's) turn." He placed it in his mouth correctly, placed his fingers around it and then blew.  Let's just say it was loud!  To end the week we did a fall pumpkin craft and played with legos.

Tot School- Week of Oct 5th

Lil'man is 22 months
Tot School
This week was a pretty relaxed week in Tot School. We did a random selection of things and I only caught a few on film, but all of them kept Lil'man pretty occupied.  One activity in particular was playing with his toy shape blocks.  We had left them at a relatives house during our summer vacation and they arrived in the mail.  Which also provided another fabulous Tot activity...bubble wrap popping.  He really enjoyed playing with both of them.  We also did a spider activity that related to our library book, The Very Busy Spider.  So, check out the slide show below of what we did this week.
