Lil'man is 20 months

This week I had a lot planned, knowing that I wouldn't get to all of it.  As a previous teacher, I know it is always better to plan more than not have enough.  My goal is that each activity will last for 30 min.  This is not always the case.  This week, we didn't even get through all the activities because Lil'man was very interested in the new Pom Poms that I had purchased, which were not on the lesson plan.  However, that is the nice part about being a SAHM, instead of a teacher.  As a SAHM, I can go with the flow and totally skip the lesson plan altogether.  As a public school teacher, I was a little more limited and I had to get through so much material in a given amount of time.  So knowing that, check out the slide show below to see what Tot School actually looked like this past week.

Tot School- Week of Aug 17

(Lil'man 20 months)

Oh, my this week went by fast and I really have nothing to show for it, in regards to Tot School.  I can't even remember everything that we did and I know we did some things.  I do remember that on Tuesday we spent the morning with my sister's family at the bowling alley.

Wednesday, we spent the morning at the library for the Tot program and then we looked for books to take home.  Thursday was a bad day for lil'man.  He was cranky, so we didn't accomplish anything.  He did help me organize my coupons. Well, to put it in a more accurate term, he empty my 3-hole punch all over the living room floor!

So, all in all I don't have any great ideas to share, but I do have a new experience of Lil' man's to share...

Tot School- Week of Aug 10

Lil'man is 20 months

This week I had planned to start introducing Lil'man to the alphabet, but Sunday night I discovered that my brother and his daughters would be visiting for the week from out of town. So, my high hopes of doing some of the great activities at Totally Tots, went down the drain. We did have a lot of fun still playing with cousins. Lil'man is at the age were he likes to do what the big kids are doing and often mimics them. Check out the slide show below of all the great things we did.

Lil'man is 20 months

I am still new to Tot School. I always forget to pull out my camera. I was able to remember one day for a few activities. Since we are new, this week we just pulled out things that we already had at home and things we had that we've never played with before. I tried to incorporate new ways of using things to spark lil'man's interest.

I found this idea from one of the Tot School participants, but I don't remember who. (Sorry! I looked at so many websites to get ideas.) As you can see, we worked on putting cotton balls into an old baby wipe container. Lil'man didn't care for this activity much because he couldn't get the lid open to get the cotton balls out. He may become more interested as we bring it out more.

We also played with puzzles. Lil'man still struggles with getting these particular shapes to fit into their slots. He is really good at matching them. I found some great file folder games at File Folder Fun that would probably be less frustrating for him because he won't have to try to line it up just right. I might try that next week.
