The Battle for Order: Week 3

Operation Organization
Alright, I have a confession...my week 2 goal was not finished. Before you gasp in shocked at my idleness, hear me out because I have a really good excuse. My brother and his two daughters showed up on Monday and of course being the procrastinator that I am, I hadn't started yet. Therefore, I selflessly, set aside my plans to better meet their needs and wants. I was, however, able to get some of the school junk essentials stuffed into the closet neatly put away.

I plan to continue to work on this goal this week by organizing my scrap booking stuff for easy access and setting up a small space for Tot School. I would love to add some cork board for showing off lil'man's creations. For those of you participating in Tot School, how do you set up your work space for you LO (little one)?

Oh, don't think I am stopping there. No, I will also be adding my coupon pile to the battle. I don't know about you, but my coupons are always expiring because I don't have a good filing system for them. I am hoping to use a binder or photo album system, instead of my throw them all in an envelope or re-print them again system. What do you use to organize your coupons? Any suggestions?

If you would like more organizational ideas, go check out Melinda's Blog and see what others have been organizing this pass week.

  1. Oooh, the battle includes coupons? This is getting good. :)

I've tried a few different styles of organizers for them. . . but I tend to forget they exist and they expire.

I've tried a few things, and I even tried using a spreadsheet so that when I went shopping I could look on the computer to know which ones I had, and not overlook any, but to no avail!

I just bought a coupon holder that folds small enough to fit into my purse, but big enough to fit a bunch. I haven't even opened it yet! (Isn't that terrible?)

  2. Perfectly good excuse to not have completed your goal... yet. Good job for keeping at it. As for the coupon organizer, I haven't done my couponing in a while but when I was doing it regularly I used a binder with the baseball card sleeves. I organized them in alphabetical order by brand name. Good luck with yours. I need to get mine out of the closet, clear it of expired coupons and start doing this again.

  3. Don't get discouraged. At least you started on your goal. Always look for the positive.

As for coupons,I always try to keep mine in my purse in a little coupon caddy and I only keep ones that I know I will use otherwise you end up with way too many. I don't keep the, "I may use this" ones b/c when it comes down to it, I never use them.

    Good Luck

  4. I don't have any advice on the coupons, but you got some good suggestions, so I won't worry about it. ;) Good luck!

  5. a little progress if better than none, even if your just 'hiding' it for the time being.
as for coupons, i set aside an hour with coffee on sat or sun and look through the coupon inserts, then the ad papers to see if anything catches my eye. then back through the inserts for cutting the coupons i need. everything else goes to the trash (ideally, not always, though) then I sort the coupons into envelopes by store or just binder clip them to the ad paper and stack them in my purse in the order i hit the stores. i have found it works for our family even if i do this every 2 - 3 weeks. i get good deals but don't jusy buy b/c i have a coupon or stock up on stuff we don't think is healthy just b/c it's free.
    good luck!

  6. Well, you accomplished more than I did last week and you had a better excuse! I'm tackling my Week 3 goal tomorrow, though (which includes my Week 2 goal).

I've tried the coupon thing and it just doesn't work for me because I buy so many store brands anyway. Or maybe I'm just too lazy to clip them. One or the other. ;0)
