This week we worked on Valentine’s activities. I don’t know about you, but I love holiday units. Make sure and visit Amber at The Belly of The Whale to see more activities in action from our unit.
Language Arts: Lil’man connected capital letters to their lowercase.
He helped cupid get to his arrows. Lil’man does pretty well with straight lines, but still struggles with wavy ones.
We have been stuck in doors so instead of doing our spelling activity that was planned we switched it up a bit. We spelled Valentine words by going up and down the stairs. I got this idea from Amber.
Math Concepts: We took a Roll & Cover activity and made it into a game with number cards. We worked together flipping cards and adding that many hearts to our Sweetheart box.
He worked on counting from 1-10 and 1-20 with our Valentine Mazes. He got so excited to do this activity that he speed through it. I had to make him go back over it because he made some mistakes on the 1-20.
Science & Fine Motor: One of our favorite activities this week was our Sweetheart Observations. The boy had a lot of fun with this. Although, after taste testing he thought they were salty. So, I went ahead and put some salt on his tongue. He quickly changed his mind and said they were sweet.
Lil’man worked on his fine motor skills with beading and I brought out his new scissors for the first time.
Extra: We made our own colorful cardstock with tissue paper and vinegar. Then we turn it into Valentines.
The boy also had a blast on our Valentine Scavenger Hunt.
Here are some of the books that we've been reading:
So, there you go. Don’t forget, you can download all the Valentine's Day printables (not all seen here) for FREE at 2 Teaching Mommies.
Next Week we will be focusing on Ways We Get Around! I hope you’re able to come back and check it out!
We’re linking up to: Preschool Corner, 1+1+1=1, and Weekly Wrap-Up.
So cute! I love the idea of spelling words as he goes up the stairs. It's great to see all of the pictures too. Thanks for visiting me today! I'm here from Preschool Corner as well.
ReplyDeleteVery cute!
ReplyDeleteWe're excited to use a lot of these this week. They're all printed out and ready to go. I love how you made the printables look like a real box of candy hearts. Kayleigh LOVES candy hearts. She talks about them all year long. LOL She's going to go nuts when she sees these.
ReplyDeleteThanks. I'm so excited for her now! The Sweetheart Obs. was by far the boy's favorite activity! We may have to do it again tomorrow! I can't wait to read all about how it goes in your next tot blog post!

ReplyDeleteWell, I definitely can't take credit for it. It was all Amber's, from The Belly of the Whale's idea.
