Your words have been very helpful and I will try to remind myself what Chad told you. Thanks for taking the time to respond.Madonnahttp://www.amommytalks.blogspot.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2786568926656039969.post-18051375016014673152011-01-01T09:53:26.955-05:002011-01-01T09:53:26.955-05:00Thanks Barbie. I figure this is just as much training for me, as it is for him. I have to pray for patience every day.Madonnahttp://www.amommytalks.blogspot.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2786568926656039969.post-33550833271490444952011-01-01T09:50:45.465-05:002011-01-01T09:50:45.465-05:00Thank you so much, Theresa. I'm so glad to know that others have had the same experience and that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.Madonnahttp://www.amommytalks.blogspot.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2786568926656039969.post-67161172384973670882011-01-01T01:36:38.162-05:002011-01-01T01:36:38.162-05:00Oh goodness, you are NOT alone! My son is 3 yrs, 3 mos & we were in the exact same boat until earlier this week.. we also used pull ups with Aidan (our son) and they seemed to just be another form of diaper to him, as he could have cared less to sit in his pee or poop all day.. so we tried training pants, and had the same reaction from him, he still sat in his messes!
We made it through Christmas with pull-ups, because I just plain got tired of dealing with it, and I decided that after the holiday I would try to go at it cold turkey.. NOTHING on our son & I would clean up any messes he made, hoping that with nothing on his butt to catch his pee or poop, he would learn better.
The first day was the hardest, constantly reminding him to go, cleaning up a few messes (just pee, thank goodness!) and fighting with him that he had to keep his pants OFF, instead of ON :)
Jump ahead a few days & Aidan was playing, looked at me & told me he had to go potty.. and he did.. in his potty!
The next day, I talked to him about pooping on his potty, moved his potty to where he plays, reminded him constantly.. and he finally pooped on his potty for the first time! We (of course) made a HUGE deal about this :)
Now, he is wearing training pants instead of a bare butt & we are working on pulling his pants off & on before he has an accident.. but there have been a few accidents along the way too.
I, like you, was about ready to throw in the towel, or find someone out of desperation that I could pay to potty train our son!
I think you have to find something that works for your child, and then they have to be ready themselves.. I knew our son was ready, he was lazy! .. sitting in his own mess was my first clue at that! :)
I'm sorry this is so long, I can relate to you, as I am still dealing with all of this, who knows if this will backfire for me as well.. if it does, I am going to have to go to therapy!!!
Good luck! :)Theresahttp://www.angellbee.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2786568926656039969.post-16951987801368872822010-12-30T12:32:57.258-05:002010-12-30T12:32:57.258-05:00First, let me just say I'm sorry that I've...First, let me just say I'm sorry that I've been so terrible at reading your blog. I need to update my links, but my computer's security stuff kicks me off when I try to do it. Anywho, I FEEL YOUR PAIN!! SO sorry that it's been such a struggle for you, but I can totally relate. The saying is REALLY true. They're ready when they're ready. For Aubrey that meant 3 1/2! And you know what, I don't plan on trying with Juliet until after 3. It's not worth the stress, the heartache...on either of us. Don't be so hard on yourself, or him. :( Sorry.Barbienoreply@blogger.com
