Tot School- Leaves
Lil’man is 33 months.
This week we learned all about Leaves. Below are just some of the things we did. You can see other activities from this unit by visiting Amber at The Belly of The Whale.
Language Arts:To start our week off we did a magnet page, L is for Leaf two different ways. First we used our bingo chipsand then we used one of our sponge paint brushes to paint in the spots.
Lil’man worked on spelling fall words this week by matching letter tiles to the letters in the various words.
As always we read lots of books this week.
Math Concepts:We found another Roll and Build activity, that worked perfect for our Leaves unit from Play To Learn Printables.
Science Concepts:We classified leaves by various rules. I created a rule and gave him an example of a leaf that would fit in the rule box. Then Lil’man look at the leaves to figure out which ones he thought would go into the box. Unfortunately, we have had a dry summer, so we didn’t have a lot of real leaves to examine. I think he still had fun.
We learned a little bit more about the fall season this week. We talked about how the weather changed and looked for clothes that would keep us warm during Fall.
Extra: This week we had fun doing a craft together as a family. After reading the story Leaf Manwe went on a walk to gather any leaves we could find. We even pulled a few off our trees because most of the ones on the ground were so dry and brittle already. Then we worked together to create our very own Leaf Person.
For Fun:This week I remember to take a few shots of Lil’man other than just during Tot School. I still need to do better, but at least I got something. Actually, I loved these shots that I captured while he was playing with his bowling pins.
That was our week. Don’t forget, you can download all the printables (not all seen here) for FREE at 2 Teaching Mommies.
Next Week we will be focusing on People Who Keep Us Safe! I hope you stop by to check it out!
Don’t forget to see what others are doing at 1+1+1=1!
We're having fun with your leaf activities this week! That topic was on our "to-do" list for September, but I really had a hard time finding resources that I liked...and I had no ambition to create my own. So, THANK YOU for fun activities and a wonderfully laid out lesson plan! :)
Thank you so much for the comment. It makes me feel special. If you have a question for me, make sure to leave your email, if it is not located on your profile. I will definitely respond. Thanks for visiting.
That looks like a lot of fun! I love the science classification activity.
